Our K1 experience

On a sunny hot afternoon, May 8th 2018, class 5C went to the K1 class in the ECC (early childhood center) to experience the life as a kindergartener because we are now moving into our new unit about “Transitions”.

Firstly, we sang a song called “Open shut Them”. After that, read a book called “who sank the boat” and then 5 people were chosen to act out the animals everytime they get on the boat. We then talked about who sank the boat. This was really fun to do I just wanted burst out laughing.

Secondly, we sung another song called “Speckled Frog” where 5 people where they had to “jump in the pond” because one part of the lyrics are, one jumped into the pool where it was nice and cool.

Lastly, we all had to take 10 pictures of objects that shows the number from 1 to 10. Some people were arguing about who gets to go up the cozy area.

Overall, it was really fun to experience the life in ECC and it was really memorable.

Grade 4 & 5 concert

On March 15th, the Grade Fours and Fives performed at the auditorium in the center of the arts from, 8:30 am to 9:30 am. There were many events including, band, strings and the choir. I personally think the concert was very exciting and outstanding.

Firstly, the band performed,”Let's Rock” and “Mickey Mouse March”. I was also performing with the band too. In the band there was flutes, clarinets, trombones, saxophones, trumpets, oboe and the percussion. I think it sounded astonishing and very well organized except for one part where someone accidentally played when they weren’t supposed to.

Secondly, the strings performed. I think it was very creative how they had duos/solos for the violins. When the cellos and violins played together, it sounded amazing and spectacular.

Lastly, the choir performed, all of the Grade 5 and Grade 4 sung together. I think it was wonderful and exciting.

Overall i think the concert was very memorable and exquisite even though at some parts it was kind of tedious.

Discussion writing: Are dogs better or are cats better?

Dogs and cats are entertaining pets that can lift your mood up but, have very different personalities. Everyone has different opinions about these two animals, some people prefer dogs more than cats, but some people don’t.

Most dogs are very active, for an example, if you take a dog out on a run or walk they can be very playful and happy and you will too. If you are a lazy person they can also make you more active.

Dogs are very smart and can help a lot with your health. Dogs can sniff and know what is going on our bodies like if we have a health problem and they can do that because they have a sense of smell that is one million times stronger then us. They also can lower your blood pressure and make you have a lower chance of getting cholesterol.

However, on the other hand most cats are usually more calm and chill. For an example if you just came home, instead of jumping and licking you they lightly sweep their head around your leg and ask you to pet them.

Cats are also very intelligent when it comes to your health. Owning a cat can reduce stress, anxiety and they can distract your worries. If you had a cat they can lower your chance of getting cancer or a heart attack. A cat's purr can help your body and their own at the same time. Purrs cut down on the effects of dyspnea, which is difficulty breathing, in both humans and cats.

In the end it seems clear that like cats more because they are more calm and they are easier to take care of and feel like they can distract my worries away and take care my health.

Day 5 Governance Opinion

I like Anarchy the most out of all of the other ones because we get more freedom and we can just do whatever we want, there are no rules, and we can just go to the other classes and we didn't need to learn anything (unless we wanted to), but this was just how we did it in school, but in real life when an anarchy happens it can be very dangerous because since there is no government people can just steal and you can just get stabbed in the back and nothing will happen because there are no rules and that person won't even get arrested.

Day 4 Democracy Reflection

Day 4 Reflection
A democracy is a system of government in which people choose their rulers by
voting for them in elections
In a democracy the citizens have to vote
The government has to organize the elections and make sure its right
A democracy is successful when everyone votes
personal comment
Being a part of a democracy made me feel normal because it was kind of like
a normal school day but we get to vote on stuff
I would change nothing
I would keep everything
A colour I would choose to represent democracy would be blue

Day 3 Dictatorship Reflection

Day 3 Reflection
A dictatorship is a government or a social situation where one person makes all
the rules and decisions without input from anyone else.
In a dictatorship the citizens have to follow the rules or speak up
The government has to change the leader
A dictatorship is successful when there is a leader and people don't like them
personal comment
Being a part of a dictatorship made me feel annoyed and happy
I would change learning writing
I would keep the end where we all start screaming ANARCHY!
A colour I would choose to represent dictatorship would be Black
A symbol I would choose to represent dictatorship would be 🚫
